Ag and Equity Trader Max
Max trades Ag and Equity futures. Orion’s out-of-the-box systems trading capability helps him be a better trader.
During the third week of April, we interviewed a new user of Orion MultiTrader, Max, who’s both a broker and a trader of Ag and equity futures. We wanted to learn a little bit more about his trading, and why he chose Orion MultiTrader.
Max, tell us a little about yourself.
My family is a producer in the ag markets and has a ton of experience there. I trade for our family office – for both hedging and speculation. We’re trying to create a structure for trading to help the next generation be as successful as the prior generation. I personally do a lot of equity futures trading. Finally, I’m an introducing futures broker and have a few clients.
What attracted you to Orion MultiTrader?
To start, the usability of the platform is great. I often spend 6+ hours a day in front of my screen and little things make a big difference – I like the way that the less bright text cuts down on my eyestrain. I’m able to configure everything I need to get my work done on a single monitor – all the charts, order tickets, quotes, ladders and daily P&L.
So that’s what you find most valuable?
Those features are great, but its Orion’s systems trading capability that won me over. I have never seen a platform where it’s so easy out of the box to set up a system and go. And I’m a user, not a programmer.
Systems trading really helps me trade by taking the emotion out of what I do. Combining that with your paper trading capability – I can set up paper trading of some system ideas and let them run for 6 months to see how I would have done.
It’s so simple but solves complex problems.
Any other thoughts?
I also like working with a smaller company. My feedback on the product has a direct route back to the developers of the platform.
You’ve been trading for many years. Can you give us a quick trader’s insight?
Some days, your trades don’t work. There’s nothing that you can do about that. I have a daily “loss limit”. When I hit it, I shut down and do something else. There’s always tomorrow.
Thanks Max. We appreciate you taking the time to talk to us.
